Position Type: Full-Time School Year 25'-26'

Hourly rate: $24.50

Schedule: Monday - Friday, typical school hours (occasional evening or weekend events may be required)

Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and professional School Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors in a school setting in Somerset, NJ. The ideal candidate will be vigilant, approachable, and capable of handling a variety of safety and security-related responsibilities with discretion and integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor school grounds, entrances, and hallways to ensure safety and enforce school policies
• Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure student safety
• Support in emergency response situations, including fire drills and lockdowns
• De-escalate conflicts and report disciplinary issues or suspicious activity
• Serve as a point of contact for visitors and ensure they follow sign-in procedures
• Collaborate with school administrators, staff, and local law enforcement when necessary
• Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records of daily activities

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Minimum 2 years of related experience in security, law enforcement, school safety, or a similar field (strongly preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle conflict professionally
• Must pass background check and fingerprinting clearance as required by the school district

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a school environment
• Familiarity with school safety procedures and NJ school regulations
• Knowledge of SCESC Student Code of Conduct
• Successful completion of new staff orientation
• Openness to be trained in Handle with Care protocols at the school
